"A Life Illuminated" Cascadia International Women's Film Festival Screening

  • Pickford FIlm Center (map)

Some of the most extraordinary light on Earth has never seen the sun. In A Life Illuminated, marine biologist Dr. Edie Widder takes us into the ocean's depths to explore bioluminescence, the stunning phenomenon of living creatures communicating through light in total darkness. As a trailblazing scientist and the first person in history to film bioluminescence in the deep sea (not to mention capturing the first-ever footage of the giant squid), Edie has spent her career turning what we once wrote off as a cold, empty void into a vivid, glowing world.

Now she's on her most ambitious expedition yet, and this film brings you along for the ride.

Bellingham SeaFeast is proud to be a community partner of this screening as part of the Cascadia International Women's Film Festival. Come see the deep sea like you've never seen it before.
