"Shared Waters, Shared Crisis" takes viewers beneath the surface of the Salish Sea to explore the twin extinction threats facing Southern Resident Killer Whales and Chinook salmon — two iconic species whose fates are deeply intertwined. The third film in a trilogy about this dynamic ecosystem shared by British Columbia, Washington State, and over sixty Indigenous communities, it weaves together three powerful community stories from along the Canadian/US border. Through the lens of habitat restoration, traditional Indigenous fishing practices, and marine guardianship, the film reveals what it will take to bring these beloved Northwest species back from the brink. A must-watch for anyone who loves the Pacific Northwest and the waters that define it.
Bellingham SeaFeast is proud to be a community partner of this screening as part of the Cascadia International Women's Film Festival.
